We could have stayed in Kihei and paid less but I wanted oceanfront and space. It was well worth what I paid and had lots of amenities and space for our family of 7. We did skip the luau ;)

And the Jones Act makes the shipping costs higher as well. It is usually much cheaper to ship from the mainland to Australia than from the mainland to Hawaii.
